Navy Medicine Conducts Proficiency Exercise
The Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Patuxent River recently held the Annual Proficiency Expeditionary Exercise (APEX) at Naval Air Station Patuxent River. This event was a collaborative effort with the base’s Search and Rescue (SAR Dogs) unit, focusing on joint Tactical Combat Casualty Care and evacuation techniques.
Focus on Trauma and Evacuations
APEX served as a key training event, representing the culmination of extensive preparation and ongoing “Warrior Wednesdays” readiness training sessions. Participants faced challenges at four static skill stations and a dynamic trauma lane that simulated multiple casualties and tactical aeromedical evacuations.
Commitment to Readiness
The exercise received support from base installation leadership and highlighted the command’s dedication to ensuring that personnel remain prepared for operational demands while also providing routine healthcare services.
