About Us

The Charlotte Tribune is an independent digital local newspaper covering Charlotte, Mecklenburg County and the rest of North Carolina. We exist to put the news that affects daily life in the Queen City, from city hall decisions to statewide developments and national stories that matter locally, in one clear, easy-to-read place.

What we cover

Our coverage is organized into eight sections:

  • Charlotte: local government, public safety, transportation and community news from Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
  • North Carolina: statewide news, from Raleigh to the mountains and the coast.
  • US News: national news and federal announcements that matter to Charlotte-area readers.
  • Business: the economy, jobs, energy, agriculture and consumer news.
  • Health: public health, medicine, food and drug safety, and wellness.
  • Science & Tech: space, science, research and technology.
  • Environment: weather, climate, wildlife and the outdoors.
  • Education: schools, colleges and universities in Charlotte and across North Carolina.

How we work

Our stories are based on official announcements and public-domain sources, such as government agencies, universities and public bodies. Articles are prepared with the help of artificial intelligence tools under our editorial standards, and every story links to the source it is based on so that readers can check the original for themselves. You can read more about our approach in our Editorial Policy.

We take accuracy seriously. If we get something wrong, we fix it and say so, as described in our Corrections Policy.
