During the ceremony, Hinton expressed gratitude to a wide array of supporters, including Soldiers, Airmen, family, friends, and retired military leaders. “This is going to be about me thanking the people who helped me get here,” he said.
The ceremony included a traditional moment where Hinton’s family pinned the silver eagles, denoting his new rank, onto his uniform. Hinton acknowledged the collaborative nature of his success, saying, “No one gets here alone.” Additionally, retired U.S. Army Col. Barney Barnhill, Hinton’s former commander, administered the oath of office, recalling that he had encouraged Hinton to pursue a commission as an officer back in 2002.
Extensive Military Career
Hinton’s military career features leadership roles at the platoon, company, and battalion levels. His diverse experience extends to key staff positions, including his role as a bilateral affairs officer in Botswana, a recruiting leader, a branch chief, and Operations and Plans officer for the NCNG.
