Free Fishing Event for Veterans
To honor Veterans Day, the Iredell County Veteran Services office is organizing a complimentary fishing event for veterans and their families. Scheduled for Saturday, November 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the gathering will take place at Stumpy Creek Boat Landing in Mooresville.
Learn to Fish Program
In collaboration with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, this event is part of an official Learn to Fish initiative. It aims to provide fishing instruction and hands-on guidance for attendees, regardless of their prior experience. Participants do not need a fishing license to join in on the activities.
Community Connection and Refreshments
Brittany Snyder, the Director of Veteran Services, emphasized the event’s mission to foster an inclusive environment, allowing everyone to enjoy the experience without incurring costs. “Our goal is to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where everyone can participate without any financial barriers,” Snyder stated. She also highlighted the opportunity for attendees to connect with nature, acquire new skills, and strengthen community bonds.
Additional Resources Available
Alongside fishing lessons, participants can enjoy complimentary hot dogs and light refreshments. Staff members from Veteran Services will be present to address inquiries and share information regarding U.S. Department of Veteran Administration (VA) benefits.
