UNC Charlotte Launches Combined Community Campaign
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is inviting its employees to participate in the 2023 State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC), which runs from October 13 to November 6. This initiative allows UNC Charlotte staff to contribute to over 785 charities, including the Arts & Science Council, covering a wide range of causes such as education, health, hunger relief, support for veterans, animal welfare, environmental protection, and the arts.
Focus on Participation and Impact
This year’s campaign theme, P.I.E., underscores the importance of participation, impact, and engagement, highlighting how collective contributions can lead to significant change. Employees are encouraged to make a difference through one-time donations or payroll deduction pledges to the organizations they are passionate about.
Tehia Glass, a professor and interim executive director of the Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success, and Jessica Waldman, chair of the Staff Council as well as an academic advisor and graduate program director in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, are co-chairs for this year’s campaign. Waldman expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, noting it reflects the university staff’s commitment to the broader community and emphasizes the meaningful impact of collective efforts across the state.
Streamlined Giving Process
Employees can easily support any of the SECC charities, including the Arts & Science Council, using their NinerNET credentials.
Glass remarked on the flexibility of the campaign, stating, “One of the strengths of this campaign is that employees can choose to support the causes that matter most to them.” She added that every contribution, no matter the size, presents a chance to effect positive change in the community.
Employees are encouraged to learn more about the SECC campaign and to consider making a tax-deductible donation during this period.
