University Honors Faculty with Teaching Excellence Awards
The University has launched the Alumni Teaching Excellence Awards to recognize faculty members who exemplify exceptional teaching, mentorship, and innovative instructional methods. This initiative invites nominations from a diverse group, including alumni, students, staff, and faculty, allowing a wide array of community members to acknowledge educators who significantly influence the learning environment.
Acknowledging Diverse Teaching Contributions
The awards feature multiple categories tailored to various faculty ranks and appointment types. This structure aims to highlight those who enhance the educational experience through both traditional classroom settings and blended or online learning formats.
Eligibility for nominations requires faculty members to have a minimum of three years of teaching experience at UNCG. The awards are divided into the following categories:
- Mary Settle Sharp Alumni Teaching Excellence Award: designated for tenured faculty members.
- James Y. Joyner Alumni Teaching Excellence Award: aimed at nontenured, tenure-track faculty.
- Anna Maria Gove Alumni Teaching Excellence Award: open to all full-time non-tenure-track faculty, including lecturers and clinical faculty.
Nominations Open Until December 1, 2026
