This policy explains how The Charlotte Tribune gathers, prepares and publishes the news.
Our sources
We base our reporting on official press releases and announcements from government agencies, universities and public bodies, and on public-domain content published by the federal government. Every article links to the original source so readers can see it for themselves.
Independence
Our news coverage is independent. Advertisers, sponsors and the organizations we write about do not influence what we publish in our news sections or how we present it.
Accuracy
We aim to report facts accurately and to present them in context. We do not knowingly publish false information, and we correct mistakes promptly (see our Corrections Policy).
How we use artificial intelligence
We are open about the tools we use. AI tools help us draft articles from official sources. We instruct them not to add facts that are not in the source material, and we cite and link the original source on every article. AI tools do not replace our editorial standards, and anything we publish remains our responsibility.
Images
Our articles are original rewrites of official announcements. The photographs we publish are press materials released by public bodies, namely federal, state and local government agencies and public universities. We use them with attribution and a link to the source; works of the U.S. federal government are in the public domain. If you are the rights holder of a photograph or text and want it credited differently or removed, write to us and we will act promptly.
Sponsored content
Sponsored content is always clearly labeled “Sponsored.” It is separate from our news coverage. See Advertise With Us.
Corrections and complaints
If you spot an error or have a concern about our coverage, please read our Corrections Policy and Complaints Policy, or write to us at editor@thecharlottetribune.com.
