Complimentary Admission for Military Families
The North Carolina Aquariums at Pine Knoll Shores and Roanoke Island will offer free admission to military families on Wednesday, November 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This initiative is open to all U.S. military personnel, including veterans, active duty, reserve, and retired members, along with their dependents. The Aquariums fall under the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, which manages the state’s arts, history, libraries, and natural resources.
Celebrating Veterans Day
Hap Fatzinger, director of the North Carolina Aquariums, expressed enthusiasm for honoring service members and their families during Veterans Day. “Our staff, volunteers and visitors look forward to thanking the many service members, past and present, and their families at the Aquarium on Veterans Day,” he stated. Fatzinger emphasized the gratitude felt for the sacrifices made by these individuals and the anticipation of welcoming them as special guests.
Engaging Experiences Await Visitors
Both aquariums provide unique and engaging experiences, featuring animal encounters and enrichment activities, which will include patriotic tributes. However, the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher is currently closed for renovation and expansion. Visitors are invited to explore the Discovery Bay satellite location at Independence Mall in Wilmington.
Advance Ticket Reservations Required
Due to the popularity of holiday events, tickets are expected to sell out quickly. Families are encouraged to reserve their tickets in advance for any of the three North Carolina Aquariums. Additionally, military families should bring appropriate identification for check-in upon arrival.
