Leadership Program Selection
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Rodney L. McCrowre, DBA, an assistant chair and assistant professor at Fayetteville State University’s Broadwell College of Business and Economics, has been chosen for the 34th class of Leadership North Carolina, as announced by the organization on October 13. This prestigious program will take place during the 2026-27 year and includes 56 leaders from various sectors throughout the state.
Participants in Leadership North Carolina come from diverse backgrounds, including government, business, education, and nonprofit organizations. The program focuses on addressing key challenges facing North Carolina while fostering opportunities for enhanced community engagement through effective leadership and public service.
Broader Impact and Goals
McCrowre views this opportunity as a chance to forge valuable connections that could ultimately benefit students at FSU and the broader communities the university supports. He expressed gratitude for the recognition and support from FSU’s leadership, highlighting the potential to create impactful partnerships across the state.
“As a proud Fayetteville State University alumnus, I am deeply honored to join Leadership North Carolina Class 34, an opportunity that reflects the transformative power of education, mentorship and servant leadership,” McCrowre remarked. He emphasized his commitment to utilizing this experience to enhance opportunities for students and to strengthen the university’s influence throughout North Carolina.
Academic Contributions
At FSU, McCrowre plays a significant role in academic leadership and student development. His responsibilities include teaching management courses, acting as the faculty athletics representative, and overseeing the SECU Public Fellows Internship Program, which facilitates paid internships for students in public and community organizations. He is also involved in academic advising and mentoring, helping students prepare for their future careers.
The Leadership North Carolina Core Program addresses six critical issues relevant to the state: government, education, inclusive leadership, health and human services, economic development, and environmental concerns. Participants in Class 34 will engage in seven sessions held in various communities across North Carolina, featuring discussions with leaders from government and industry, site visits, and hands-on learning experiences.
Previous Leadership Experience
Before joining Leadership North Carolina, McCrowre was part of the sixth cohort of the UNC System Executive Leadership Institute in 2025. His selection to this new program follows that of Wesley Fountain, vice chancellor for External Affairs and University Advancement, who completed the program as a member of Class 31 in May 2024.
